Instruction in playing the clarinet and saxophone. Teaching principles, class procedures, and repertoire. Three hours weekly. Fall semester only.

For music education vocal emphasis majors. Theoretical instruction in all wind orchestra instruments. Practice experience on the instrument of their choice. Pedagogical procedure, performance, arranging, and observation. One hour weekly. Spring semester only.

Participants develop an understanding of technology (e.g., computers, keyboards, hardware, software, and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and its practical application. Topics include computer hardware, software (notating, sequencing, digital audio, recording, educational), keyboard controller modules, samplers, CD-ROM, Internet, Web, multitrack recording, mixing, CAI, and other applications. Laboratory fee.
