    Introduction to Adobe PhotoShop 8.0 Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic computer skills. The recommended textbook is available at the ECSU bookstore. Adobe PhotoShop is a software-painting program that is pixel based and can be used to edit traditional photographs, as well as create original illustrations and collages. The class will edit, retouch or create images using Photoshop's basic tools, palettes, layers, and pixel selections.     Design Makeovers Prerequisite: Experience with QuarkXPress and Adobe Illus. Following the principles of contrast, alignment repetition and proximity students will look at improving business cards, ads, newsletters and brochures. The class will discuss ways on improving a layout and the use of grids to make alignments more consistent. Application of the "golden rule" for proportion and identifying this in layouts will be explored.     Advanced QuarkXPress Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of QuarkXPress Building on the experience from the Intro to QuarkXPress class, Advanced QuarkXpress will focus on the creation of a multi-page document. Students will develop their QuarkXpress documents learning how to take advantage of style sheets, custom colors, master pages, and format type.     Advanced Adobe Illustrator Prerequisite: Introduction to Adobe Illustrator Students will create original artwork in Illustrator, building on tools learned in the Introduction to Illustrator class. Illustrator's most challenging tool, the pen tool and drawing Bezier curves, will be taught.     Digital Photography Prerequisite: None This lecture and lab workshop will provide an overview of the technology and an introduction to digital photography for practical and personal use. It will supply students with the knowledge to choose a camera to meet their individual needs and guide the student who may have a digital camera and would like to utilize its potential. The class will learn the use of digital cameras; how they work, an understanding of the numbers, and the terminology used to describe the features these cameras offer. The use of digital images to produce the final output as hardcopy prints (inkjet) and issues of image size will be demonstrated. In the final class, students will focus on the use of digital images in electronic media, emailing images, and downloading images from the web. This will include issues of appropriate size when importing to documents, web pages, and presentation programs. In addition to the lab specific exercises, the discussion will cover copyright issues for electronic images.     Adobe GoLive 6.0 Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic computer/internet skills. This course will teach students how to create a basic web site using Adobe GoLive. Students will first learn about the Adobe GoLive user interface, and then will create individual web pages containing text, hyperlinks, tables, and images.
