Introduction To The French-Speaking World Prerequisite: None Through the study of articles, paintings, songs, and a short novel or play, and the viewing of (excerpts of) films, you will learn about the various countries and cultures that compose the French-speaking world. We will discuss how these works illustrate political, social, and curtural issues. We will address issues such as colonialism, post-colonialism, racism, and feminism. You will sharpen your analytical skills (both in textual and filmic analysis), while gaining a global perspective of historical, cultural, and religious issues that reach beyond the Francophone world.
