A course in writing and directing documentary films. Lectures, screenings, and writing exercises will be combined with practical experience in videography and editing. Discussions will focus on intellectual, ethical, legal, and aesthetic issues related to the making of documentaries. Prerequisite: Film Studies 212 or equivalent. 1 unit - Hudson. Half-Block: Advanced Topics in Filmmaking: Producing for Film, TV, and New Media. This course will examine the real world dynamics of producing for film, teleivison and new media. Utilizing all aspects of a liberal arts education, the course will require the students to navigate through the various stages of production that make up both the "show" and the "business" of show business.
