Studies the history of contemporary essays that define the mechanics and parameters of the prose poem. Requires substantial writing and critiquing. Course is repeatable as content changes to a maximum of 8 units.

Explores issues in contemporary news media, including credibility and bias, press freedom and responsibility, press-government relations, media coverage of politics, news media economics and influence on content, and race, gender, class, and news media.
