Presents an anthropological overview of the formation of the borders between Mexico and the United States, and the border regions and communities associated with them. This course is the first of three in a yearlong multidisciplinary sequence about society and culture in the U.S.-Mexican borderlands. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take HASS 022B and HASS 022C. Fulfills the Humanities (Additional) or Social Sciences (Additional) requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.

Students are encouraged, but not required, to take HASS 022A and HASS 022B.
