Develops piano skills necessary for all music majors including scale technique, reading the grand staff, playing primary and secondary chords, harmonizing melodies with accompaniment patterns, singing with 2 handed accompaniment patterns, sight reading and improvisation and early intermediate level repertoire. Successful completion leads to Class Piano III.

Develops functional piano skills necessary for all music majors, including scale technique, intermediate solo piano repertoire, primary and secondary chords, harmonizing melodies with accompaniment patterns, singing with 2 handed accompaniment patterns, sight harmonization, sight reading, improvisation, and transposition. The course prepares students to complete the First Piano Proficiency.

Develops piano skills necessary for vocal track music education majors and those improving conducting and/or musicianship skills, leading to the completion of the first half of the Second Piano Proficiency. Using a variety of music including open scores, choral pieces, and vocal literature, students learn skills to play the instrument with competence and sensitivity.

Expands piano skills necessary for vocal track music education majors and those advancing conducting and/or musicianship skills, leading to the completion of the second half of the Second Piano Proficiency. Using a variety of complex music including open scores, choral pieces, and vocal literature, students will expand skills to play the instrument with competence, sensitivity and confidence.
