Develops further the four language skills through extensive and intensive practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The course emphasizes professional communication in the fields of business, law, and medicine. Russian language is taught in its cultural contexts, including history, culture, diversity, and comparison with students? native cultures. The course develops communicative language proficiency at the Intermediate-Mid and Intermediate-High sublevels (according to ACTFL proficiency scale).

The course's reading assignments, deployment of sociological, anthropological and historical terms, and analysis of different cultural, economic, and political phenomena in Russia and Russian speaking countries are aimed at deepening students' knowledge of the regions.

Designed to elaborate on the major laws and the changing roles of special educators and support staff to serve all students, including those with exceptional learning needs (ELN). Topics addressed include: laws, ethics, working with families, paraprofessionals, inclusive settings, co-teaching, collaboration/consultation models, team planning, and conferencing skills.

Designed as an internship where students are placed in a community organization/agency that serves individuals with disabilities and will be under the supervision of an experienced professional who is employed by the agency and a special education faculty member. Students are expected to develop an in-depth understanding of the agency activities, programs, and services, and will assume increasing levels of responsibility as beginning level professionals.

Introduces the basic principles and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety in occupational settings. Topics include OSHA and other related agencies, federal regulation, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, materials handling, and employer responsibilities.

?Facilitates an exploration of jobsite hazards, hazard-mitigation controls, accident causation theories, and federal standards associated with primarily the construction industry, mining and petrochemical fields. Central focus is placed on the dynamic, continuously changing environment inherent to active jobsites. Specific topics that will be covered include demolition, welding, excavations, concrete work, cranes/rigging, and personal protective equipment. ??

Provides an overview of hazardous materials in the context of occupational safety and health. Specific topics that will be covered include site characterization, personal protective equipment, materials handling, decontamination, and training. Emergency management and response will also be discussed.

Serves as a comprehensive overview of industrial hygiene in the workplace. Students will gain an understanding of chemical, physical and biological hazards in the workplace as well as how to evaluate and control these hazards that put lives, property, and the environment at risk.

Provides students with an understanding of the issues regarding safety management in the workplace, and examines how the implementation and management of safety system programs can influence safety awareness, loss control, and injury/illness prevention.
