Explores composing and arranging conventions for voices, brass, woodwind, string, keyboard, and percussion instruments. Project intensive. Finale?or Sibelius Notation Software Required. Upon completion, students will be able to arrange and compose effectively for homogenous and mixed instrumentation.? Required course for music education majors and open to other music majors.

Study the developmental and musical characteristics of children ages 4-18. Emphasizes teaching the elements of music through age-appropriate activities. Includes a survey of current materials as well as observation/participation in the local schools. Particular attention is given to curricular development for general music classes and elective courses in grades PreK-12.

Guided by specialized music faculty, this class uses a variety of methods and hands-on activities to provide a basic framework for the creation of electronic music.

Prepares students for conducting choral music groups. Emphasis on communicative and control techniques of conducting, rehearsal planning, advanced score study, repertoire and performance techniques. Practical training with ensemble made up of students in the course, as well as outside of class observations and conducting experiences.
