Provides mid- to upper-level graphic design majors experiential learning in the field of graphic design. Through research and communication, a comprehensive semester-long project is designed and proposed to a community-based organization or activity that relates to the student's interests and career goals. Practicums are supervised and evaluated by a faculty advisor and require no fewer than 120 hours during the semester to earn 3 academic credits.GC GC

Provides mid- to upper-level graphic design majors with credit-bearing experiential training in a professional work environment to gain valuable, practical experience with an on-site discipline-related supervisor in an organization connected to the student's career goals. Internships may be face-to-face or remote, depending on the organization and position held. All internships are supervised and evaluated by a faculty advisor and require no fewer than 120 hours during the semester to earn 3 academic credits.

Reinforces contemporary graphic design practice through advanced problem-solving assignments, intensive self-directed projects, and rigorous design research. Lectures include, but are not limited to, client relations, best-practices, self-promotion, negotiating project specifications, interviewing techniques, and the development and execution of a professional portfolio. Investigations using the creative process and self-discovery are emphasized and will prepare students for their final semester and the creation of a culminating project and exhibition.

Research and explore an area of personal interest. From this investigation, students will develop a project or body of work. Individualized readings and assignments will deepen the students' knowledge of the discipline and enhance their engagement with contemporary design practices. Students will write about their influences and explorations, and engage in critical analysis. Students will meet regularly with the course instructor and participate in individual and group critiques.

Provides a culminating experience for BFA students concentrating in Graphic Design. They will give a presentation on their design, research, and written thesis as part of their BFA Senior exhibition. They will apply professional practices when curating, publicizing, and installing their work. Addresses relevant issues regarding women's health and puts this knowledge to use. Provides a forum for the presentation of medical and scientific information on the health needs of women. For the context of this course, women's health issues are defined as any matters that affect women's health differently from that of men.

A thematic approach to an historical topic, with an emphasis on relevance to contemporary society. Designed for discussion among upper-class students of all majors, the course emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and includes insights and perspectives from the humanities, other social sciences, or the sciences.

A global survey of the evolution of societies from prehistory to the early modern era. It covers the history of not only Europe and the Mediterranean basin, but also Africa, Asia and the Americas. Recurrent themes include migration, sedentism, community, gender, belief systems, culture, politics, economy, conflict, environment, technology, and catastrophe and collapse.
