At theinstructor's discretion, the course may treat a "canonical" auteur, such as OrsonWelles,Alfred Hitchcock, or Akira Kurosawa, or mafocus upon figures historically marginalized within cinema studies, including Oscar Micheaux, Ida Lupino, or Sam Fuller.
