Provides a conceptual, strategic, and technical overview of sports communications across all levels of sport. Students will apply effective communication skills, both written and orally, to different audiences. An emphasis on media relations, print and electronic content creation, social media, and other trending technologies will be covered.

This course is focused on enhancing individual performance and well-being through sport and physical activity. Topics include motor skill learning, motivational techniques, arousal regulation, team dynamics and cohesion, aggression, overcoming injury and addictive/unhealthy behaviors, exercise adherence, and psychological skills training.

This course will explore the multi-billion dollar world of sports marketing, branding, and sponsorship from the viewpoint of the team, the brand, and other major stakeholders. Students will learn how teams and brands work together to achieve their marketing goals and connect with fans.

The sport industry requires students who are trained in all aspects of sport business, including the critical area of sport sales. This course will provide practical professional sales techniques and philosophies utilized in several areas of sport including personal selling, ticket sales and sponsorships. Subsequently, the dynamics associated with building and fostering relationships necessary for consumer loyalty and a vibrant sport organization will be thoroughly examined.

This course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of the facility planning process, as well as how to manage specific sport facilities and the events staged in these facilities.

This course reviews the many administrative tasks an athletic administrator encounters in the administration of an intercollegiate athletic program and department. The course is designed for students majoring in sport management studies, business administration, or students who might be interested in a career in athletic administration at the collegiate level.

This course delivers the information that future sport management professionals will need to have confidence in understanding public policy in regards to sport and recreation. Through inquiry, analysis, examination and problem solving, sport management students can make better decisions as managers which benefit themselves, their employer, and the community they serve, both now and in the future. The immediate relevance of public policy in sport to students' professional lives will enable them to make constructive judgments and informed commentaries on the system and processes, from practical and critical social perspectives. The course enables students to examine and justify their own opinions and attitudes around sport-related issues thus preparing them as informed leaders in sport management. Offered spring, annually.

Gender in sports provides students with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary analysis of the problems, patterns, and processes associated with the involvement of women in sports. Students will be exposed to obvious and subtle issues in the sport domain that contribute to different opportunities and experiences for individuals based on gender.
