This course introduces the principles of computer methods in Geology with an emphasis on industry-specific software. The course is designed to provide students the opportunity to apply computational analyses to the solution of Earth and Environmental Science problems including those related to geophysical, geospatial, and hydrologic investigation.

The Geology Internship provides practical experience with an approved agency or facility involved in activities pertaining to geographic fields of study.

An introduction to the field of aging for majors and non-majors. A general overview of the psychological, biological, cultural, sociological and behavioral aspects of aging.

Social and cultural aspects of aging within the context of contemporary demographic and historical variables will be reviewed. Application of critical thinking skills will assess the impact of aging on the individual, the family, the workplace, the community, and the U.S. society. Theories about roles and adjustment later if life are examined.

This course is an introduction to the biological aspects of aging, both normal and pathological. Studied are age-related changes in the major systems as well as the major theories of biological aging. Students will apply scientific concepts, recognize data limitations, and explore the impact on society.

Overview of the theory/research on families in later life including a synthesis and review of existing literature, identification of research issues and needs, and implications of this information for practitioners, researchers, and family members.

Exploration of the professional skills required to work in the field of gerontology and the positions available through working in such an agency under the joint supervision of a community partner and gerontology faculty member. This is an experiential learning course.
