Students are empowered to explore their own definition of rural development, including defining the purpose and objective of development and what role(s) that they aspire to as part of the next generation of rural development leaders. Rural leaders, in particular, must be incredibly adept at making strategic decisions about how to achieve desirable outcomes with limited human and financial resources.     Structured experience in an appropriate agency or corporate setting. Student and instructor work collaboratively to identify appropriate internship. Intended to provide students with on-the-job experience to enhance skills acquired via course work. Approved internship position required and student must discuss internship position with their advisor at least one full semester in advance of when they intend to take the course.
