Various topics of special interest to students of drama. Restrictions. Limited to undergraduate status. Prerequisite: Permission of department chair. May be repeated once for a maximum of six credit hours when topic varies.

Independent study under faculty supervision, involving research readings, or artistic projects. Restrictions: Limited to undergraduate status. Prerequisites: Permission of department chair. May be repeated seven times for a maximum of eight credit hours.

Introduction to college reading and study skills. Strategies for adjusting to college will be presented along with assessments of personality as related to learning styles.

Writing is designed to teach essential writing skills: spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph, summary, and the essay. Readings from contemporary prose that provide models and examples for students' writing are required. instruction in the DS Writing Laboratory is available.

A review of prealgebra and basic algebra skills including operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ratio and proportion, percent, and measurement; introduction to exponents, language of algebra, signed numbers, absolute value, order of operations, linear equations and inequalities, graphs and statistics. Required labs. Prereq : Placement Test and permission of Developmental Studies Academic Advisor.

This course combines topics in pre- and elementary algebra including operations with whole numbers, fractions, percents, exponents, signed numbers, order of operations; ratio and proportion; measurement; functions; solving and graphing linear and quadratic equations and inequalities; operations with polynomials, and factoring polynomials. Requires 5 hours of in-class work and 1 hour of lab work. Placement: Math Placement test score.

A trigonometry and geometry course for students who need this preparation for MA 113 or MA 115. Topics include lines and angles, polygons, triangles, circles, solids, and composite figures, the six trigonometric functions, right triangle trigonometry, radian measure, graphing and inverse functions, identities, equations, complex numbers and polar coordinates, and logarithms. Required computer lab. Prerequisite: High School Algebra or DS 082 or DS 083 and Permission of DS Academic Advisor.

Designed to provide students an opportunity to study selected topics of particular interest.

Directed Studies under supervision of a faculty member. Directed Studies in mathematics includes required labs. Prerequisite: Permission of Department Chair.

Functions of the price system in a market economy; role of households and business firms in mobilizing resources to meet human needs. The functional and personal distribution and use of income. Relevant problems are discussed.
