The third of four cardiovascular specialization courses provides an in-depth study of the health care management of the acute cardiac patient. Emphasis is on patient diagnosis and management to include assessment, diagnostic procedures, treatment and pharmocological management to individuals with acute cardiovascular disorders. Particular attention will be given to the impact of cultural diversity and population based healthcare on cardiovascular health disparities in a culturally diverse environment.

In the first of two residency courses, the student initiates the DNP role within a selected area of cardiovascular advanced nursing practice. Students will work with multicultural experts in their field of interest and with a faculty facilitator to refine and initiate their DNP synthesis practice project. The course focuses on assisting students to identify and explore issue and trends, implementation strategies, and evaluation methodologies for the synthesis project. The residency site will depend upon the student's career trajectory and approval by the facilitating faculty.
