NUR 104: Introduction to Pharmacology

PREREQUISITE: Admission to Nursing Program. This course provides opportunities to develop competencies necessary to meet the needs of individuals throughout the lifespan in a safe, legal, and ethical manner using the nursing process. This course introduces students to basic principles of pharmacology and the knowledge necessary to safely administer medication. Course content includes legal implications, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, calculations of dug dosages, medication administration, and an overview of drug classifications. Students will be able to calculate and administer medications. of the instructor. This course introduces the student to the diatonic harmonic practices in the Common Practice Period. Topics include fundamental musical materials (rhythm, pitch, scales, intervals, diatonic harmonies) and an introduction to the principles of voice leading and harmonic progression. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a basic competency using diatonic harmony through analysis, writing, sight singing, dictation and keyboard skills.
