The course includes an examination of the role of voluntary and governmental health agencies, epidemiology, environmental health programs and the accessibility of public health services. Special emphasis will be placed on exercise adherence, dietary changes, weight control management, smoking cessation and stress management. Prerequisites: HED 155, HED 213. Students will be assigned to an approved health/fitness agency, wellness program, or educational institution for a period of time arranged with the student by the course instructor and approved by the chair of the department. The student will report to the instructor periodically and will prepare a terminal written report for the instructor and the administrator of the participating agency. Prerequisite: permission of the chair of the department. (Fall, Spring, Summer)

Human environmental sciences as an area of study integrating concepts from family development, resource management, foods and nutrition, cloth- ing, and design and housing. The history and philosophy of human environmental sciences are explored with implications for current issues. Career opportunities are identified.
