Study of flight management and control systems, including the theoretical concepts and maintenance of autopilots, integrated flight control systems, and flight management systems. Additional study includes area navigation systems, including Automatic Direction Finding (ADF), land-based area navigation, (VOR/DME R-NAV), IRS and GNSS.

Introduction to aviation maintenance management, including an in-depth examination of the airline, corporate, and repair station environments. Exploration of the responsibilities of aircraft maintenance managers in various aviation organizations and federal regulations governing the maintenance requirements for aircraft operators. Emphasis on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) procedures and requirements. Research: organization operation, policy, quality control, and supervision.

Study of the management of avionics integrations and installations. Emphasis on custom interconnects between various avionics subsystems in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations. (Formerly AVC340).

Application of knowledge gained in the Aviation Maintenance Technology major, resulting in a proposal with accompanying documentation. Discussion and research may include topics such as cost effectiveness, aircraft and avionics maintenance, aircraft overhaul, and the effect of outside entities on the aviation industry. Designed to promote assimilation of knowledge gained from prior course work and an understanding of how that knowledge applies to the aviation maintenance professional.

Application of knowledge gained in the Aviation Maintenance Technology program as it pertains to the aviation maintenance professional. Topics for discussion and research include, but are not limited to, cost effectiveness, maintaining aircraft and avionics, aircraft overhaul, and the effect of outside entities on the aviation industry. Completion requirements include a major project with appropriate industry-required documentation.

Introduction to various techniques and processes used by aviation maintenance technicians. Study includes materials and processes used in aircraft construction, precision measuring equipment, hardware identification, common tools, torque procedures, and safety devices.

Introductory topics including selection and use of proper cleaning materials and procedures, nondestructive inspection methods, and the inspection and fabrication of fluid carrying hoses and tubing.
