Advanced study of graphic design for web and interactive media. Emphasis on web-ready designs that focus on marketing, brand, concept, and usability. Methods for designing across print and digital mediums will be explored along with approaches for presenting finished interactive work to clients. (formerly ART360)

Examination of graphic design that focuses on the unique elements associated with brand including research, positioning, marketing, strategy, and consistency. Historical, current, and future trends in branding design will be explored and applied to projects. This is a studio-based course, intended to develop skills in group communication, critique, process, and presentation. Portfolio quality design work as well as written elements unique to branding and identity establishment and design will be produced. (formerly ART410)

Development and enhancement of design works for the professional career portfolio. Includes the development of a personal identity to be used on a letterhead, resume, and envelope. All major coursework, except ART 496, must be completed before enrolling.

Development of an independent project, with faculty direction. Includes research, analysis, discussion, execution, and presentation of a final project within the discipline. Study of avionics communication and navigation, focusing on the theoretical concepts and maintenance of High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) communication and navigation systems as well as audio integration systems used on aircraft. Emphasis on the subjects covered in the Federal Communications Commission General Radio Telephone Operators Examination. System analysis includes historical, modern, and future contexts.

Application of avionics communication and navigation principles, focusing on the High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) communication and navigation systems as well as audio integration systems used on aircraft. Concentration on emerging technologies in both general and commercial aircraft.

Study in the causes of human error and how that error impacts safety issues in the aviation maintenance department. Analysis includes relationships between management, pilots, and other flight crews; resource management plans; common errors; risk management; and technology advancements that have lead to error reduction. Case studies identify critical points in aviation incidents and accidents. Emphasis on developing a personal and organizational safety culture.

Study of microwave pulse systems used on board aircraft, focusing on flight line testing of distance measuring equipment (DME), air traffic control transponders, airborne weather radar, and radar altimeters. Exploration of tactical navigation, passive weather detection, and collision avoidance systems, and the role these systems play in the Federal Aviation Administration's reduced vertical separation minimums and terrain awareness systems.
