This course helps ABE/GED students at all competency levels identify their current abilities, characteristics, styles and readiness to learn. Students are guided in assessment of their personal educational and employment backgrounds and interests. They also identify their skill gaps, learning deficiencies and barriers to learning and receive recommendations for strategies and interventions to improve their learning. Students receive an orientation to the ABE/GED program, its resources and services. Ultimately, students receive assistance in identifying their long-term and short-term goals, identifying the skills needed to reach those goals and developing a plan of action to achieve those goals (i.e., a personal learning/action plan).
