This is a one-credit course which examines various aspects of the geology of Washington. This quarter's version explores the Seattle Fault, an active fault system which cuts through the very heart of our city, and includes a day-long field trip which examines this feature from Issaquah through Seattle. The course includes two 2-hour evening lecture sessions on campus in Room AS 1520 on Monday, October 11th and 18th, 6-8 pm,and the field trip on the weekend of October 16 - 17, 8am -6pm (to the degree possible, your choice of either Saturday or Sunday). Lab credit course, lab fees apply.

This is a 10 credit praticum where students begin to apply the information and knowledge gained in HIN 111 ans HIN 112. In a lab environment, students will practice making tools and develop basic skills in the manufacture and repair of parts for time pices. Identification and application of tool and equipment use while exercising safety precautions in a watchmaker's shop will provide the context for this direct learning experience. Students will practice with measuring techniques and begin to apply problem-solving skills to the fundamentals of manufacturing.
