SWK 330: Human Behavior and the Social Environment

Course content is organized around the developmental tasks of each life stage with attention given to the focus of the social work profession on the entire life cycle. Emphasis on theories that provide the knowledge base for practice. Prerequisite: PSY 211 or 212 and Professional Status as defined in the program description. This course is designated Writing Intensive; a grade of "C" or higher in this course is required forthis course to count toward the six credit-hour Writing Intensive graduation requirement for Ferrum College. A student cannot earn a grade of "C" or higher in this course unless he or she earns a "Cor better on the writing assignments required by the course. Three hours, three credits.

The nature and delivery of child welfare services through public and private child welfare organizations will be scrutinized. Current legislative activity as well as the role of courts will be examined. The course is intended to examine the function and responsibilities of diverse professionals and thus is appropriate for students in various social science majors.
