Offers students the opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with practical experience. Prerequisites: junior or senior standing (for transfer students, at least 15 hours completed at Westminster or permission of instructor), minimum 2.5 GPA, completion of the Career Center Internship Workshop, and consent of program director and Career Center Internship Coordinator. Hands-on exercises help participants learn and develop the skills necessary to effectively manage their finances. Course is designed for all students; business and non-business students are welcome to attend.

This course explores frameworks of investment, analysis, and the financial markets, in the context of careers in the investment field. Students learn to choose investments, manage personal wealth, and meet investor return criteria. For concurrent credit only. Registration in summer camps required; not to be used to complete business major requirements. Credit/no credit only.

Business Finance introduces students to basic financial concepts and their application to business situations. The course will develop an understanding of the methods used to analyze and manage the financial performance of a firm. Topics include: a review of accounting, financial ratio analysis, time value of money, asset valuation methods, fundamentals of capital budgeting, the relationship between risk and return and the cost of capital. Offered Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
