A study of issues and the application of techniques, strategies, and materials for meeting the needs of English Language Learners/English Learners in inclusive classrooms. Emphases include sociocultural issues in educational contexts, TESOL through the content areas, linguistics, second language acquisition, the integration and applications of the PA English Language Proficiency Standards PK-12 (ELPS) and current trends in second language teaching, learning and assessment.

Theory and practice of writing tutoring, especially for those who plan a career in teaching or who are focusing on the remediation or development of language and writing skills.

This course is a variable-topic research seminar. Students will do advanced work in many topics in English studies, including literature, rhetoric, film, cultural studies, composition, aesthetics, theory, individual authors. This course may be repeated for credit.

ENG 400 requires prerequisites of ENG 201, ENG 202 or ENG 295, and ENG 206 or ENG 296.

Students will complete two projects (portfolio and capstone project) to demonstrate proficiency in the skills and methods they have acquired in the major. Taken in the student's final year.

ENG 499 requires prerequisites of ENG 194 or ENG 201, ENG 202 or ENG 295, ENG 296 or ENG 206, and ninety completed credits. English majors only.

The West Chester University "Sixth Man" Basketball Band provides musical entertainment and organized enthusiasm that contributes to a one-of-a-kind game environment at WCU Men's and Women's Basketball games! A non-auditioned group, members of the "Sixth Man" Basketball Band are student musicians that are interested in providing support to our Athletic program while upholding a standard of performance excellence that has become synonymous with the Wells School of Music.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to perform in a world-class Marching Band. Performance competencies resulting from the West Chester University "Incomparable" Golden Rams Marching Band should include, but not be limited to: keen perception, aesthetic sensitivity, creativity, analysis, and evaluation, based upon heightened student musical awareness, enjoyment, and understanding. Other educational outcomes resulting from the WCUIGRMB include improved self-image, teamwork and cooperative learning, critical and higher-level thinking, goal setting/achievement, self-discipline, decision-making, and informed consumerism. An audition is required for participation.

The Concert Band is one of four concert wind bands at West Chester University of Pennsylvania open to majors and non-majors. The Concert Band regularly represents the university during campus concerts and events. The course seeks to enable students to participate in artistically engaging musical performances through the study and preparation of significant wind band literature. No audition is required for participation in the group.
