    This course will require candidates completing the student teaching internship to meet on a weekly basis to discuss professional issues and topics such as resume writing, interviewing, job searching, classroom management issues, diversity, school law, parent-teacher conferences, etc. Pre-requisites: Candidacy status in education; completion of all requirements for admission to the professional semester.

    Technology Literacy for Education provides the student an opportunity to build on the basic skills and concepts learned in the prerequisite course(s). This class will focus on the applications of technology to the educational classroom environment. Students must demonstrate ability to use and ability to teach others to use the various aspects of educational technology. Skills learned in this class will include: word processing, educational software, drawing and presentation software, Internet applications and digital media. Other educational concepts addressed will include managing technology in the classroom, addressing needs of diverse learners, and enhancing classroom methodology and teaching with technology. Prerequisite: INFS1020 or INFS1050

    Electronic Media for Teachers is a hands-on course for the prospective elementary teacher. It is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the selection, integration, and application of a range of electronic media production technologies and projects into the classroom to meet the diverse needs of all students and learning objectives. The convergence of television and the Internet will be emphasized with a focus on the electronic digital technologies including: digital video, audio, still photography and web-based authoring. Emphasis will be on the use of technology to learn, not just learning how to use the technology. The course will include active viewing, critical thinking and an evaluation of a diverse mix of constructed media messages and products and programs. An awareness of media literacy concepts and the legal and ethical responsibilities will also be emphasized. Topics will include: setting up, operating and troubleshooting equipment, development and integration of media products into the classroom in various content areas and, specific technology issues faced by today's teachers. Prerequisite: INFS1020
