    This is an advanced level course that helps the actor synthesize their stage movement training. Special topics may include stage combat, and may also include demonstrating specific techniques, and non-naturalistic styles, among others. Prerequisite: Minimum C grade in THEA 312. Open to BFA acting majors only, or by permission. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Compose, collaborate, and communicate with fellow students to effectively create ensemble performances using their physical tools as means of expression and purpose. (2) Identify and demonstrate various theories of Theatrical Stage Movement. (3) Demonstrate advanced movement techniques as an effective means of expression while creating personal connections to the physical side of acting. (4) Recognize and develop the physical attributes of self and scripted characters.

    This course will focus on special topics in voice and speech with an emphasis in preparing the student for the professional world. Areas of specialization may include voice over technique, Alexander work, or other topics suitable for advanced level study. For performance majors only. Prerequisites: Minimum "C" grade in THEA 304, 305. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Demonstrate the various skills of the voice-over artist. (2) Know the various aspects of the professional voice-over industry. (3) Demonstrate a voice warm up to be used for rehearsal and performance. (4) Demonstrate basic recording technique. (5) Integrate voice/speech skills with acting skills. (6) Demonstrate good postural alignment and breath work.

    A course where the fundamentals of acting for film and television are introduced and practiced.Prerequisite: Minimum B in THEA 301 and 302. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1)Develop the skill and craft to act and feel comfortable on camera. (2) Exercise naturalness in their work on camera. (3) Further develop improv skills in auditioning for TV&Film. (4) Adopt listening skills in order to react with greater ease. (5) Exercise moment-to-moment spontaneity in his or her work.

Topics may include: rehearsal and performance, devised work, special techniques, or other skill sets deemed most useful to the cohort. BFA Acting Seniors. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to: (1) Develop advanced acting techniques. (2) Demonstrate synthesis of voice, speech, movement and acting in various styles.

    An advanced class for the fourth year musical theatre major. Emphasis is given to further developing the skills required for the various styles of musical theater and expanding the repertoire in preparation for entering the profession. Prerequisite: THEA 322, 337, 338, and B.F.A. Musical Theatre Majors Only. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to: (1) Demonstrate specific acting styles for the major periods and genres of musical theatre. (2) Develop performance repertory and techniques for use in auditions. (3) Build the skills needed for musical theatre auditions.

    This senior capstone is a performance project that synthesizes a student's skills in performance, communication, and scholarship utilizing research, analysis, interpretation, rehearsal, meetings with a faculty advisor, production director or other artistic staff, written components, and culminating in a performance. Topics and theatrical forms are negotiable (devised work, original play, etc.), as is exploration/collaboration with additional disciplines (dance, design, etc.) or professional employment/internship. Prerequisites: By permission of instructor. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Demonstrate proficiency in researching, organizing, rehearsing and presenting a performance. (2) Identify and articulate a cohesive performance process. (3) Demonstrate collaborative skills as intrinsic to the performance process.
