    This course will survey an array of psychotherapeutic approaches to working with children and families including psychoanalytically-oriented and client-centered play therapies, as well as psychodynamic and structural family therapies. In addition, we will critique the medical model as it is applied to children's mental health and explore non-traditional medical approaches such as naturopathy and homeopathy. Course Objectives (1) Identify and describe major theoretical approaches to the treatment of child and family dysfunction (2) Review and describe approaches to the assessment of child and family dysfunction (3) Discuss ethical principles of clinical practice with children and families

    This 3- credit course examines the intersection between natural world and health. Students will explore the incorporation of elements of the natural world into the therapeutic process, with special attention on specific diagnostic presentation, populations, and geographies. Historical and contemporary perspectives are presented that help to define the influence that human nature relationship has on dimensions of human health and wellness, community integration and development, and environmental sustainability.. Course Objectives (1) Students will gain a practical knowledge of the foundations and scope of throught associated with eco-psychology practices. (2) Students will develop a greater understanding of the influences of the human-nature relationship has on health, well-being, and the therapeutic process. (3) Students will expand personal sense of how eco-psychology relates to life and gain insight into individual eco-identity.

    A study of the dynamic continuation of psychological development beyond childhood and adolescence. Course Objectives (1) Identify, describe and apply major psychological theories of adult development (2) Identify, describe, and define the methods of research used by psychologists in the study of adult development (3) Identify and describe physical and health changes that occur as a result of aging (4) Discuss theories and models of death and dying in developmental psychology (5) Summarize and discuss issues of particular concern in adulthood, such as the search for meaning, stress, and transitions associated with late adulthood

    An in-depth examination of selected case studies. Specific criminal cases discussed in detail with regard to the psychological dynamics involved in the crime, the social impact and implications, the effect on the victim and/or witnesses, the role of forensic psychology in the court proceedings, the role of the therapist in court mandated treatment, etc. Course Objectives (1) Summarize and appraise theory and research in legal psychology, including issues important to the legal system (2) Summarize, appraise and apply theory and research in forensic psychology including legally relevant clinical areas where psychologists act as expert witnesses and consultants (3) Summarize, appraise and apply theory and research in psychological jurisprudence, efforts to develop a philosophy of law and justice based on psychological values

    SAEM 101 functions as an introduction to business basics (emphasis on entrepreneurial skills) within the context of the Sports, Arts and Entertainment industry. Students will receive an opportunity for experiential learning through a SAEM live event assignment and shadowing exercise. Course Objectives Upon completion of this course students will learn how to: (1)Construct and apply a postive and professional online presence (personal brand) in a shadowing experience and subsequent presentation. (2) Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the business world and how it applies to sport, art, and entertainment businesses. (3) Created and effectively communicate presentations both orally and in writing. (4) Recognize corporate social responsibilites and ethical issues faced in sports, arts and entertainment management.

    This course will cover many facets of the Sports, Arts and Entertainment business, and students will comprehend how live entertainment is a part of all of the disciplines. Highlights include training in the fundamentals of the entertainment business, which includes marketing, promotion, advertising, finance, theatre production, venue management, artist management, artist touring, the recording industry, ticketing operations, sponsorship and more. Prerequisites: SAEM Major, SAEM 101. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Summarize the skills necessary to work in a diverse environment in the sports, arts, and entertainment industries. (2) Interpret the team members necessary to put on a live event in sports, arts, or entertainment management, and determine which ones they would need to incorporate to make their event successful. (3) Outline the various sources of income and expenses required to put on a live event in sports, arts, and entertainment. (4) Describe some of the key ethical dilemmas facing producers of live events.
