This course studies global Francophone literatures throughout history. Students will acquire a general knowledge of relevant historical, literary, cultural, and political movements as well as knowledge of specific texts.

This course studies Afro-francophone literatures throughout history. Students will acquire a general knowledge of relevant historical, literary, cultural, and political movements as well as knowledge of specific texts.

These courses are designed to address the many challenges an incoming student may face: social and academic skills development, the Lincoln tradition, the meaning of liberal arts, attending lectures, recitals, and convocations offered throughout the semester as basis for class discussions, library research/computer literacy, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. This course will be taken in the freshman year and monitored by an Advisory Committee based in the Sociology Department.

This course is an interdisciplinary science course to prepare students to major and succeed in STEM. The course is designed to explore several themes in STEM to enable STEM students to begin thinking like scientists. Scientific writing, reading, problem-solving, project designs, critical thinking skills will be the focus of the course. Students will work in teams to design projects to solve problems using scientific methods. Students will work with mentors and advisors to plan their curriculum and other supportive activities.

These courses cover mechanics, motion, conservation laws, heat, wave motion, electricity and magnetism, light, atomic and nuclear physics, elements of chemistry, geology and astronomy. Special emphasis is placed on solving formulas and using graphs. Students with superior mathematical ability should take PHY 101-102 or PHY 103-104. Credit is not allowed for GSC 101-102 and for PHY 101-102 or PHY 103-104.
