The course focuses on theories of physical assessment and diagnosis across the life span. Use of the Synergy Model will guide discussions on theoretical frameworks from nursing and other disciplines to develop a client database and a differential diagnosis of common client complaints encountered in primary health care practice settings. Patient characteristics, nursing competencies, and outcomes explicated in the Synergy Model will guide discussion of the process of clinical problem solving and hypothesis generation and testing.
