Did you ever want to appear in a musical but were afraid to try? Are you an experienced musical performer eager to explore new roles? This class will tailor the musical theater experience to your needs. Each semester ends with a special concert. Course may be repeated for credit. 3 credits

This course continues the work of the beginning acting class and also offers specialized study in a particular area of theater and acting that is keyed to the theater production currently being presented. Subjects to be covered include acting in the classics, acting for the musical theater, or acting in comedy, when a classic, musical, or comedy presented by the College theater. Course may be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: Eng 280 or permission of instructor. 3 credits

This course presents a variety of theater games, scenes, and challenges that are all performed without scripts. Improvisation develops quick thinking, solving problems "on your feet," and challenges students to develop their creative imaginations. Talented students move on to "Cavalier Attitudes," the student improvisational troupe. The course is good background for acting, public relations and advertising. 3 credits

This one-credit course involves hands-on experience in radio through working for WYBF, the campus radio station. Students will be trained on studio equipment and will learn station policies and FCC regulations. Students will also work in a department such as news, production, music, promotions, public affairs, sales or sports and may do an air shift, if desired. May be repeated for credit. 1 credit

This course focuses on radio station management. Students will oversee all operations of one of WYBF's departments, such as news, production, music, promotions, public affairs, sales, or sports. Students will also do advanced work in programming, production, and promotion. May be repeated for credit; instructor's permission required. Prerequisite: COM 391. 2 credits

This course furthers the course objectives of Radio Broadcasting and offers specialized study in two key areas of radio: consulting and production. Students will be exposed to the core business of radio: audience building retention, programming techniques and station management. In addition, they will collaborate with classmates to develop and produce special programs and series for for 89.1 WYBF-FM, the campus radio station. Course includes one hour of production time per week and the development of a 30-minute documentary. Prerequisite: COM 290. 3 credits

This hands-on course looks at the fundamentals of digital audio production. Topics discussed will include sampling fundamentals, MIDI production, software synthesis, mixing, signal processing and sound-to-picture. Students will be exposed at an entry-level workstation, Garage Band, as well as an advanced workstation, Logic Pro. Empahasis will be placed on preparing professional projects that are "air ready" and developing an artistic voice in the medium through both media and music production. Course fee. 3 credits

This hands-on course continues the curriculum from the Digital Audio Production course with a focus on more detailed production techniques. The lecture will complement the text readings along with in-class production demos and projects. Topics to be covered include microphone types and milking techniques, mixers, gain stucture and signal flow, advanced sound design and signal processing, and general studio relationships. 3 credits

This third-level audio engineering course focuses on the most challenging and rewarding part of a recording session: "the mix." Mixing sessions involve advanced training in signal processing. Students will have intensive instruction on advanced engineering skills. The SSL Automation will also be discussed in depth. Course meets off campus at KAJEM Recording Studios. Prerequisites: COM 394 and 395. Course fee. 3 credits
