1.00 Credits
This course will provide an introduction to the fundamental concepts of chemistry and is designed for students who need additional assistance with math and problem-solving skills. Assignments will supplement material covered in CHE 111, General Chemistry I. Students will be placed in CHE 100 based on prior math experience and may only take the course if placed in it. Does not fulfill Core Science distribution requirement or Chemistry, Biology/Pre-Medicine or Biotechnology major requirements. Co-requisite: CHE 111. Offered fall. 1 credit
-
3.00 Credits
This course is designed for non-science majors and covers a variety of topics in three major areas: 1) physics--matter and energy, Newtonian mechanics, electricity and magnetism; 2) chemistry--atomic structure, bonding, the periodic table, chemical formulas, and balancing chemical equations; 3) earth science--the solar system, the ocean and atmosphere, tidal effects, weather systems, plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes. This course is particularly recommended for Elementary Education majors but is suitable for all other non-science majors. Three hours lecture. Prerequisite: Completion of mathematics competency or MAT 117 or higher. Offered fall and spring. 3 credits.
