WILD 360 -- @Leadership in Adventure Education (2) Students will develop the technical, leadership, and facilitation skills necessary to implement safe and effective facility based adventure education programming. The course will focus on initiative, climbing wall, and ropes course programs while using the Adventures In Reality Climbing Center at SUNY Potsdam. Emphasis is given to understanding the theoretical underpinnings behind adventure education philosophy. Prerequisite: WILD 160. Fall and Spring. Activity fee will be assessed by Student Accounts.

WILD 445 -- @Therapeutic Recreation (3) This course examines recreation as an integral part of the treatment process for youth-at-risk, people with disabilities, and other special populations such s those with drug/alcohol dependencies. The use of adventure experiences as modalities for participant change is a primary focus of this course. Fall. Cross-listed as HLTH 445.

WMST 100 -- Women's & Gender Studies I (3 or 4) As the foundation course for the Women's and Gender Studies program, this course provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary field. It explores feminist theories, critiques, and debates surrounding gender as a unit of analysis, intersecting with race, class, sexual orientation and global inequalities. The class also examines global feminist struggles for equality and justice. Serves also as lower-division elective in Sociology as SOCI 150 and Political Science as POLS 125. Every semester.

WMST 360 -- Research Methods (4) An examination of research methods in the field of Women's and Gender Studies with specific attention to the theories, methods, epistemologies, histories, and practices that constitute feminist inquiry. By engaging in conversations with researchers across disciplines, the course will consider ways multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary feminist perspectives inform and interrogate research based inquiry.

This is the first course in a two-semester sequence providing an introduction to the speaking, reading, writing and oral comprehension of modern Mandarin Chinese, Films, Web sites and other current materials from China acquaint the student with contemporary Chinese culture and colloquial usage. Class sessions plus lab. Open to students with no prior study of Chinese.

This course takes a transnational perspective on strategic management. It explores the integrative and cross-functional nature of organizational strategy and decision-making within a global environment. Students are exposed to a wide range of strategic problems, opportunities, challenges, dilemmas/puzzles and paradoxes involved in forming and implementing organizational strategies in an era of globalization. The aim is to develop the sophisticated, critical thinking skills and understanding necessary to manage effectively in an increasingly globalized world.

Students will develop competency in digital image capture, processing, and critical evaluation. Hands-on activities and studio/lab will permit each student to investigate the applications of applied digital photography and simple lighting techniches. Through technical studio assignments, critiques, and presentations, students will increase their skills in image printing, camera operation, and using Adobe Photoshop. A digital SLR camera is required for this course. The instructor recommends a Nikon D3000, D3100, or D5000 as a good all-around introductory level DSLR. Canon and Sony both also make models adequate for this course. Three hours lecture per week, with practical photo-based homework. THIS COURSE MEETS SUNY GER 8 (the Arts) CREDIT.
