This non-credit course will consist of an examination of services needed by those suffering from co-occuring disorders/dual diagnoses (primarily mental and/or developmental disorders and substance abuse disorders). We will explore issues pertaining to evaluation/assessment and treatment planning. Participants will learn the fundamentals of DSM-IV-TR differential diagnoses. Learning objectives include (1) Participants will be able to carry out a rudimentary DSM-IV-TR diagnosis on a hypothetical client. (2) Participants will be able to identify the needs and services which would be appropriate for clients with co-occuring disorders.
