This course will present a comprehensive analysis of the development and procedures necessary to protect the industrial premise and its employees from internal and external attacks and losses. Vital concerns such as executive protection, corporate espionage, terrorism and counter-terrorism, which are all parts of crisis management, white collar and economic crime and document security, will be discussed. 3 lecture hours.

Prerequisites: Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA; completion of 30 credit hours; and a Loss Prevention major. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 200 hours in an approved position in a security- related area. Students will gain first-hand experience in the security field. The on-the-job experience will be evaluated and the students’ performance graded by the agency and the coordinator of the internship program. Minimum of 200 practicum hours.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of MATH 311, 312, 321, 322, 411 and 412; and senior level standing or consent of the instructor. The materials, devices and methods of teaching mathematics in high schools. 3 lecture hours.

Prerequisites: Admission into the Massage Therapy Program, and a grade of C or better in LFSC/LFSL 111. Principles of traditional European & contemporary western massage with historical perspectives will be discussed in this course. An introductory mix of techniques from a variety of modalities will be covered in order to achieve a basic understanding of massage and its history. Some of the modalities used are: Swedish massage, sports massage, neuromuscular therapy & deep massage. 2 lecture hours, 6 laboratory hours.

Prerequisites: MASG 100 and MASG 140. Corequisite: MASG 142. Oriental (some non-oriental) methods are based on the principles of Chinese medicine and the flow of energy (Chi) through the meridians. The geography of the acupuncture meridians is relied upon to determine points of applying the techniques. Acupressure, Shiatsu, Touch, and Reflexology will also be presented. 2 lecture hours, 6 laboratory hours.

Corequisite: MASG 100. This clinical course is designed to reinforce and relate lecture/lab experiences to the clinical environment. Students practice clinical skills and further develop competence as a massage therapist. Requires close coordination between students, clinical supervisor and course coordinator. 6 clinical laboratory hours.

Prerequisites: MASG 100 and MASG 140. Corequisite: MASG 112. This course continues to relate and expand upon previous academic/clinical experiences. Students practice clinical skills and further develop competence as a massage therapist. Requires close coordination between students, clinical supervisor and course coordinator. 6 clinical laboratory hours.

Prerequisites: MASG 112, MASG 142, FNRL 285, and PHED 294. Corequisites: MASG 240 and MASG 250. By applying principle of kinesiology, anatomy & physiology, students begin to develop a sense of focus on enhancing and developing skills applicable to the study of massage technique. These approaches organize and integrate the body’s relationship to gravity through manipulating soft tissue and correcting inappropriate patterns of movement. Students develop body mechanics, balance, proper use of body weight and rhythm in relation to treatment movement and patient positioning. Multiple techniques are used to integrate massage. 2 lecture hours, 6 laboratory hours.

Prerequisite: MASG 140. Corequisites: MASG 210 and MASG 250. This five-week course clinical experience will be gained in VU’s massage clinic or in a clinic of choice with the approval of the program director. 6 clinical laboratory hours.

Prerequisite: MASG 112. Corequisites: MASG 210 and MASG 240. This course is designed to integrate the aspects of massage in building a clientele, creating and running a successful business and securing job placement. 2 lecture hours.
