Provides an overview of the use of computers in the law office, including the use of databases, spreadsheets and computerized research. Students will become familiar with computer technology.

Client care today is increasingly driven by information and the need for its effective management. Health Care informatics is designed to give allied health students hands-on experience with issues relating to health care information systems, including the use of computer systems, generating charts and graphs from a patient scenario and the development of client care education packages.

Students will learn how to systematically search the internet for information, and to evaluate and properly document it. Specifically, how to use Boolean Logic to search the internet, identify and use various internet search engines and other electronic databases, evaluate the validity and usefulness of a website and use correct APA style for the documentation of various internet and electronic data sources.

An introduction to object-oriented programming. Program planning and documentation will be stressed. Topics will include designing forms usingWindows' standards, programming logic structures, such as branching and repetition, creating interfaces that can access databases, and the development of reusable objects. Many hands-on projects will be required.

An overview of computer use in the modern setting that will cover operation systems, especially doS, but also the Binary number System as used by computers to represent and convert information into multimedia displays. Graphics and audio and video file production and compression will be demonstrated. instruction will be given in PowerPoint electronic software. Prerequisite: CSC 100

Classroom instruction, and extensive hands-on practice in electronic spreadsheets using Microsoft exCeL. Topics will include basic file handling, work sheet setup, printing, graphics, macros and work sheet automation. A few short projects will be assigned.

Web page design using HTML, Java and dreamweaver software will be the subject of this course. Along with programming techniques, issues such as good page design, proper use of meta tags to promote one's site and site maintenance will be covered. Prerequisite: CSC 130

Fundamentals of database management systems with an emphasis on Microsoft Access will be covered. database design, querying, creating forms and reports, posting databases to web pages, and designing and using macros will all be discussed. Students will be required to complete a number of database projects. Prerequisite: CSC 125

Principles of setting up the hardware and software of LAns will be discussed. Students will get hands-on practice in setting up a small network in class. Topics will include design considerations, configuring the server, types of cabling and electronic media, as well as troubleshooting network problems. Although emphasis will be on theWindows environment, netWare and Unix platforms will be addressed. Prerequisite: CSC 130

The Microsoft office xP modules including Word, excel, Access and PowerPoint will be reviewed.The student will be prepared to take theMicrosoft office User Certification (MoUS) exam at the completion of this course. emphasis will be placed on effective use of an integrated software suite in the modern office. Prerequisite: CSC 100, 130, 201, and 215
