    The study and application of the creative capabilities of advanced audio equipment. Students learn the theory and techniques of sophisticated audio production, including analog and digital multi-track recording, mixing, signal processing, live remote recording, digital editing, creative sound production, and sound design for other media.     Examines a series of specific examples of alternative media (such as community radio, public access cable television, not-for-profit news services), and how they are used in the United States and other countries. The course covers theoretical and historical materials related to alternative media and how the social, cultural, and political contexts within them have emerged and exist today.     Students will engage in field production toward the completion of a documentary feature begun in TVR-29700 or TVR-39700. Before shooting on location, students must deliver a formal proposal to the supervising professor, followed by regular progress reports, and a final paper summarizing what was learned. Prerequisite: TVR-29700. Pass/fail. 1 credit, repeatable up to 3 credits.

    This course is a critical examination of legal and ethical issues in video games and immersive media. The course will study how the law and the legal systems in various countries affect video games and immersive media. It will examine ethics, history, and public policy related to immersive media and the rapid changes taking place as the technology evolves and expands the use of immersive media worldwide. Open only to game design and immersive media majors. Prerequisites: TVR 30200. 3 credits. (Y)
