Examines the concepts, tools, and current environment of philanthropy as it pertains to the nonprofit performing arts industry. Explores individual, corporate, foundation, and government giving trends and the methods used to solicit support for the performing arts, including case statements, proposal writing, direct mail, special events, and the Internet. The capstone experience for B.F.A. theatrical production arts majors with a technical concentration. Students function as supervisors of a technical area for a major production. An opportunity for advanced students to pursue a major project in sound design or technology. Skills and techniques learned in THPA 30600 and THPA 30700 are applied to projects in sound design, reinforcement system design, or show control, usually in conjunction with departmental productions.
