The course focuses on the design process and on the way in which sound can communicate the ideas of the play and director to an audience. An advanced study of the art of costume design, including script analysis, historical research, character analysis, and rendering methodologies. The interpretation of dramatic works is the primary focus, covering a wide variety of dramatic forms and styles. Prerequisites: THPA 22400. 3 credits. (S,Y)

This course analyzes the aesthetics of various cultures and institutions as reflected in the apparel and objects of daily life. Also examined are the cultural influences (religious, political, economic, etc.) on those aesthetics. Prerequisites: Three level-2 (or above) courses in the fine arts or humanities. 3 credits. (F,Y)

No two workshops may be taken concurrently. May be repeated for total of 8 credits concentrated in one type of workshop or distributed among several. Prerequisites: Audition required. 2 credits.
