This course deals with the creation and maintenance of a long-term vision for the organization. It is concerned with both the determination of the strategic direction of the firm and the management of the strategic process. The course builds on prior studies of functional areas while recognizing that most real business problems are multi-functional in nature. The course employs an explicitly integrative approach to explore and reconcile the tensions that accompany management decisions. In doing so, students adopt the role of the general manager who has the responsibility for the long-term health of the entire organization (or a sub-unit within the organization). Not open to students who have taken BUS 470. Prerequisites: BUS 1350, 3010, 3020, 3030, 3040, 3050 or equivalent, and senior status. Pre- or co-requisite: BUS 3020. 4 credits. NLA. WT
