Introduction to generally accepted accounting principles and practices involved in collecting, recording, classifying, reporting, and interpreting the financial data of an organization. Course provides students with the opportunity to understand basic terms and concepts of financial accounting. Corequisite: MA 113

Topics include financial statement analysis, cash flow statements, elements and behavior of cost, cost/volume/profit relationships, full versus variable costing, and responsibility accounting. Prerequisite: AC 111.

Intensive examination of fundamental accounting theory, assumptions, and principles, with application of these concepts to the recording and reporting of financial transactions. This course emphasizes a conceptual rather than mechanical approach to accounting. Prerequisites: AC 111 - 112.

Exposes the student to fundamental tax principles for business and investment planning. Concentrates on the tax environment, tax planning, measurement of taxable income, taxation of business and individual income, and the tax compliance process. Prerequisites: AC 111 - 112.

Instruction in the types and classification of drugs, including their modes of action- in the cell, the system, and the organism- and their contraindications. Particular attention to the role, function, and effects of commonly used pharmacological agents in the medical treatment of common (athletic and nonathletic) injuries and illnesses of active individuals. Prerequisites: BI 223-224; CH 221.

Instruction in various methods related to health assessment. Particular attention is given to the development of skills in auscultation, percussion, and physical examination procedures. Other topics include signs and symptoms of various systemic illnesses/conditions (diabetes, asthma, etc.), cardiovascular conditions, and the evaluation of other systems of the body susceptible to injury/illness which may be encountered during an evaluation of athletic and non-athletic individuals. Prerequisites: BI 223, BI 224, AT 223, AT 228.
