CODS 462: Auditory Rehabilitation

This course will address the effects of hearing loss in children and adults. Assessment and management techniques will be covered. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of amplification, considerations in the selection of hearing aids, tactile devices, and other assistive technology. Eligibility criteria for cochlear implants, options for implant selection, and intervention techniques with this population will be covered as well. Educational options for children with hearing loss will be presented, and the significance of family education, counseling, and support will be discussed. Prerequisite: CODS 373
