Enables students to gain a better understanding of negative and fractional exponents, nth roots, inequalities, absolute value and intervals, the quadratic formula, basic analytic geometry, functions and the applications of the above topics. Prerequisite: SD117 or placement test. Satisfactory compltion of this course will prepare a student to take MA109. 3 hours lecture, one semester; 3 credits.

This course allows students to offer community service and receive credit. It is a social service component that is integrated into a student’s academic program. Students will have to be enrolled in a regular departmental course that offers a Service Learning option. A student can earn one extra credit when the service learning option is added to a regular departmental course worth three or four credits. For each credit, 30 hours of community service, library research, reflective writing and conference with designated faculty member is required. Permission from instructor and academic adviser required. A student can earn a maximum of nine Service Learning credits for the entire duration of study at Georgian Court. Offered each semester.
