Class includes: exploration of art education curricula and instructional methodology for grade 6-12; understanding visual development and the use of appropriate materials and processes for grades 6-12; surveying and development of curriculum materials, including lessons and develop teaching skills; and using performance-based assessment through portfolios, journals, observation, interviews, and structured discussion groups. Observation hours required. Also listed as EDUC 3623. Prerequisites: ART 1213, 2163, and 2613, or permission of instructor. Course rotation: Offered as needed.

As a final course to complete the major, the student is required to produce a body of work or research addressing specific aesthetic considerations related to his or her principal area of concentration (minimum of nine hours at 2000-4000 level). An exhibition and portfolio presentation is required for studio, or research treatise for art history. ($20 lab fee.) Prerequisites: Senior standing, B average in courses in area of concentration, and permission of instructor. Course rotation: Typically offered during spring semester.
