This course involves in-depth study of Fedor Dostoevsky's major fiction from historical and literary perspectives, with emphasis on his attitude towards Christianity in its Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant variants. Course Information: Same as HIS 464.

This is a course about reading, analyzing, writing, and redefining memoirs. The autobiographical writings on the reading list look at the inner life of the authors as well as the outer events. We will examine how historical context, socio-political climate, cultural memories, and identities are represented in these personal narratives, and in the process redefine the genre of memoirs. Course Information: Same as LIS 458. This course fulfills an Engaged Citizenship Common Experience requirement at UIS in the areas of Global Awareness or ECCE Elective.

Novels, short stories, poetry, and literary and cultural criticism by Native American women writers, such as Paula Gunn Allen, Leslie Marmon Silko, Joy Harjo, and Louise Erdrich. Course Information: Same as WGS 463.

Exploration of women's spirituality, spiritual autobiographies, devotional literatures, novels, poetry, and essays. Course Information: Same as AAS 464 and WGS 464.
