The first part of the course covers the use of various data-gathering techniques such as surveys, non-participant observational studies, participant observation, focus groups, and similar techniques. The second part covers topics relevant to the analysis of statistical data, including exploratory data analysis techniques, probability distributions, units and levels of measurement, hypothesis testing, measures of independence, associations, and correlation.
