The specific topics of study in this course will include modulation, binary and ternary forms and the use of the following chords: diminished triads, diminished seventh chords, diatonic seventh chords and augmented sixth chords.     This course will use the richness and diversity of concerts, operas, and other music events in London as a basis for stimulating interest in western classical music - using the word classical in the wide sense of art music from all periods - and for deepening students' aural, intellectual, and emotional responses to music. The course will provide the opportunity to study different textural, structural, and formal principles and models and the placing of works heard in live performances against stylistic, cultural, social, and historical backgrounds. This performance ensemble will explore the rich repertoire and performance practice found in the gospel tradition and related genres, such as spirituals, blues, jazz, R&B and hip-hop. Emphasis will be on listening, improving vocal technique and sightreading skills and growing as an overall musician.
