Differing systematic approaches to the study of psychology. Relates psychology to the broader context of the history of western philosophy and science. Perennial issues such as the mind-body dichotomy and the nativism-empiricism controversy are traced through a succession of historical periods to show how modern attitudes developed. Other concepts include mechanism, determinism, association, functionalism, structuralism, holism, and behaviorism.
