Prerequisite: PHTA 118, 130, and 216 with a grade of "C" or better or department approvalThis course is a continuation of PHTA 130 including supervised clinical practice in a physical therapy department. Students perform physical therapy interventions with additional exposure to adult orthopedic and neurological conditions. The students will develop critical thinking skills to advance patient care interventions.

Prerequisite: PHTA 218 and 230 with a grade of "C" or better or department approvalThis course includes two full-time, four-week supervised clinical experiences and is a continuation of PHTA 230. The student is given opportunities to practice more advanced physical therapy interventions in a variety of practice settings such as geriatric, pediatrics, or adult rehabilitation. The student has an opportunity to participate as a full-time member of the health care team.

Prerequisite: Department approval This course provides the opportunity to work on a technical project, research or other specialized study related to individual academic needs. A written plan for the independent-study project is developed with a faculty member (including a detailed description of the project, the number of credit hours assigned to it, the evaluative criteria to be used, and other relevant matters) and the project is carried out under the periodic direction of the faculty member. The written plan is submitted to the associate dean for approval and remains on file within the department, together with a final written report submitted to the faculty member by the student. Repeatable up to a maximum of five semester hours of credit.

Prerequisite: This course is open to any adult, 21 years of age or older This course will require students to meet for twenty hours of lecture and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. The latter will embrace all phases of driving including country, city, highway, one-way traffic, and snow and ice driving. The student must have a temporary driving permit before the first class session.

Prerequisite: None This course is co-offered by the National Safety Council and Illinois Insurance Discount Program for senior citizens. The course provides for an appropriate reduction of the premium for auto liability insurance for drivers over the age of 55 who successfully complete an approved motor vehicle accident prevention class. The course will include specific direction on how to develop the driver''s ability to avoid accidents by the development of knowledge, alertness, skills and improved driving habits.

Prerequisite: None This course includes an introduction to the history and the rules of the game with an analysis of fundamentals. Emphasis is placed on individual skills and team play.

Prerequisite: None Progressive development of skill in arm strokes, footwork, serve, volley, kill shots, rules and general strategy, and types of competition.

Prerequisite: None Participation is in various activities designed to promote physical fitness. Activities include volleyball, badminton, and other conditioning activities and games.

Prerequisite: None Individual skills in serving, forehand, backhand, lob, clears, smashes and drop shots are stressed. Instruction in strategy, singles and doubles game play and rules of the game is given.

Prerequisite: None This course is designed to orient students to the field of recreation and recreational activities. It is intended to provide each student opportunities to formulate a philosophy and some basic concepts regarding recreation and recreational services as a profession.
