A two course sequence which provides a comprehensive survey-seminar about world theatre history. Theatre History I traces theatre in the ancient world to 1650; Theatre History II covers 1650 to the present. Each course explores theatrical architecture, conventions, and literature as they interact with cultural movements. Each class requires significant dramaturgical, performance, archival, or writing projects. Courses may be taken in any order. Prerequisite: THEA 241. Offered each fall (371) and spring (372).
